Striving to help youngsters…

Since operating, Foundation 47 has strived to help youngsters achieve their goals. Whilst youths are aware of opportunities available to them such as Apprenticeship schemes, many are still aspiring to achieve a professional contract in football.

Tension between youths and their school teachers

Foundation 47 are well positioned and aware that this can cause tension between youths and their school teachers and even parents or close family. Youths often become disengaged with school work and can become disruptive during lessons as they live day-to-day life with the attitude of “I am going to be a pro footballer anyway, I don’t need school”.

Managing risks..

We are confident in saying that we have had huge success in managing these risks. We are capable of intervening in these situations, educating both teachers and pupils in the process. We educate the teachers, who may not come from the same background as many of the challenging pupils they work with and therefore do not always understand why the young people are limiting themselves to a career in football.

The business of football

We then mentor the young people, explaining the “truths” about the business of football. We do this by sharing our very own experiences and by introducing them to individuals who have made it as professional footballers as well as those who did not but instead continued into further education and full-time work or owning their own small company.
