Foundation 47

“Michael is amazing – he is doing a fantastic job with the young people and it is a real pleasure to work with him.” Sir Steve Bullock, Mayor of Lewisham.

Set up as a not-for-profit organisation, Foundation 47 has not always operated under this name.  In 2012, after pondering what could be done to improve communities, reduce crime and prevent the rising number of murders particular amongst youths who had become marginalised from mainstream society, Bellingham Football was born.

The London Football Association.

After initially putting money from our own pockets to fund the basics of setting up a new company we were supported by The London F.A. who granted us £500. This was to be the beggining of a journey which has allowed Foundation 47, mentored by Sir Steve Bullock, The Mayor of Lewisham to work with youths in schools and estates across England and Belgium.

Talk is cheap!

Many of the young people we work with are very opinionated. There are strengths and weaknesses in this trait, however we at Foundation 47 focus on strengths in order to reduce the limitations of the young people. One of their common phrases when challenging a team mate is ‘talk is cheap’. We have applied the very same phrase to our ethos. We could also write endlessly about the organisation but we would prefer if you spent a few more minutes, browsing our website.

We are particular proud of the article written by The Guardian’s Lara Williams, this is a must read. We are just as excited to be able to offer our young people, internships at architectural companies, links which were formed during last year’s various projects.

Our new staff are giants; full of big hearts! We have restructured in order to employ individuals who share Foundation 47’s endless passion of improving the awareness, behaviour and standard of living for our young people through sport and education.
